'Entreflores' is a crisp dry white wine from the Rueda region produced by the Príncipe de Viana winery. Rueda is located along the banks of the Duero River in Castilla y León, a 2-hour drive north of Madrid. While winemaking in this area dates from the 12th century, it was in the 1980s that the region was granted Denominación de Origen (D.O.P.) status. Rueda’s main grape variety, Verdejo, gets its distinct complexity from stressful growing conditions and mineral-rich soil. The grapes that are used to make Entreflores Verdejo come from selected vineyards. Hand-picked grapes are crushed and fermented at low temperature. This creates a wine with an intense aroma of tropical fruits, fresh grass and flowers. Tasting Notes; Nose: Intensely fragrant, featuring aromas of green apple, pear, peach, and zesty lemon, underpinned by herbaceous notes of cut grass and fennel. The Gikas family's fascinating winemaking journey began in 1875 when the vineyards belonged to two estate owning families – Skouze and Cambas – where the children of Great Grandfather Gikas tended to the vineyards as caretakers and winegrowers. This was the beginning of a love affair with winemaking, as the children grew to become experts in the field. When the estate owners decided to dispose of their properties in the beginning of the 19th century, the Gikas clan invested in vineyards that it had come to love. This winegrowing tradition continued throughout the 20th century, being passed down from generation to generation. As the city of Athens expanded and industry grew with it to surrounding areas, the Gikas family relocated its winegrowing area beyond the plains of Attica in Spata to the fertile hills and valleys of Viotia. Today- Today, its prized vineyards lie at the slopes of Mount Kithairon – a place revered by the wine god Dionysus in Greek mythology – marking a new era for winegrowing in what is considered one of Central Greece's best wine-growing regions. Sourced from Chile's Central Valley, it is renowned for its deep crimson colour, gentle tannins, and rich profile of ripe red and dark berries, plums, and subtle spices. Carménère's natural acidity and herbal edge make it incredibly food-friendly – grilled / spicy meats.
